I thought I’d take a look at my ‘Most Played’ playlist because, on a day-to-day basis, I listen to my music via iTunes more than through any other medium which makes it’s interesting (to me) to see which songs have cropped up most often over the seven or eight years I’ve been using it.
All these songs are amongst my absolute favourites but they’re not necessarily those which I choose to listen to when I have the chance to play my vinyl, although in some cases that’s because I only own digital versions.
What unites them all, I think, is that they must be the songs I keep returning to when I’m in the car or on the train or am away from home, to relax, reassure or cheer myself up.
And yes, there’s a Girls Aloud song in there but no Cocteau Twins. Weird.
