I love this image. Julia and Leslie Stephen appear engrossed in their books, silent and concentrating. You can almost hear the clock ticking. In the background, the young Virginia Stephen is either lost in thought or fascinated by the camera and photographer. It’s like seeing a passage of ‘To The Lighthouse’ come to life which is appropriate because it was taken at their Cornwall home which inspired that novel.
