I was reading some short stories by Joseph Conrad this week which reminded me it was high time I put up the essay I wrote for the now sadly defunct Raconteur magazine a few years ago. It also had an outing on the also-departed Wales Home so fingers crossed I manage to keep this blog going otherwise it’ll disappear for ever.
You can read it here. It’s very long.
Bear in mind I hadn’t written anything of any length since my university days when I produced this effort so be gentle if you have anything to say.
Two of the illustrations I’ve used by the way come from the magnificent Folio editions. They’re the work of Francis Mosley and you can gaze upon his work in wonder on his website here.
